Cynthia A. Pensoneau, JD, is the founding partner of The Pensoneau Firm, PC in Memphis, TN. Cindy is a lawyer, mediator, coach, yoga teacher, wellness trainer and presenter/speaker. She has practiced law for 20 years, primarily in family law, litigation, Collaborative divorce and mediation. Cindy is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed General Civil Mediator. She is listed in the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals as a trained Collaborative practitioner attorney.
Cindy learned the value of having an integrated life after suffering multiple soft tissue injuries that occurred while training for marathons and maintaining a demanding divorce law practice. To heal physically and mentally, Cindy chose to avoid surgery and instead pursued yoga, natural healing practices and a more balanced lifestyle. She was inspired by her positive results and now works with busy professionals to improve their personal and professional effectiveness and happiness.
Cindy leads classes for individuals and groups in yoga, meditation and mind/body vitality practices at studios and business offices. She is also a frequent presenter on other topics, including Collaborative law practice, Mindful Communication, and personal and professional development.
Her legal practice now focuses on Collaborative divorce and mediation to assist families through the uncoupling process in a way that transforms conflict and allows people to part in an equitable way without the expense, disruption and emotional pain of litigation. When litigation is necessary, Cindy partners with the most skillful divorce lawyers, financial advisors, and mental health counselors to achieve the best outcome for her clients.
As a divorce coach, Cindy guides and counsels clients on how to navigate the divorce process, using Mindful Communication and holistic health practices to transform conflict into harmony for a more fulfilling future.
Cindy has practiced yoga for 21 years and received her 200 hour YTT certification in 2010 in the hatha yoga tradition. She is currently working towards her 500 hour advanced yoga teacher certification and has been teaching yoga for 12 years.
She serves on the Board of the Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS), the Memphis Bar Association Wellness Committee and works with her colleagues in Lawyer Yoga to present on the intersection of yoga and law practice.
Cindy regularly volunteers at her son's school and Gray Bear Lodge retreat center; she travels, runs with friends and is devoted to keeping adventures on the horizon. Cindy graduated from Vanderbilt University (B.A. 1998) and from The University of Memphis (J.D. 2002).
